Cyprus Weddings – Rebecca & Daniel
The day began at the lovely Elysium Hotel where we photographed Rebecca and Daniel in their final preparations before there big moment. I must say I was suitably impressed with their room. They had a personal swimming pool!! I didn’t know they existed at the Elysium…. Very nice!
We soon departed for the St George’s Chapel for another lovely service. The guests were accepting of me and extremely easy going, so I had no trouble getting the shots I needed to make sure Rebecca & Daniel have the wedding photos they were dreaming of. Once the service was finished we had a quick photo session on the beach and on to a stunning location a short drive out of Paphos called Vasilias Nikolias Inn in the sleepy village of Nikolias. The sun was just setting and bathed the reception area in golden sunshine. Absolutely beautiful!

Cyprus Weddings – Rebecca & Matthew
This was my first wedding of 2010 and there is always some slight feelings of apprehension when I do my first wedding of the year. However, this wedding went extremely well and all worries go out the window as soon the door opens to the hotel room. Rebecca was great fun and didn’t seem worried at all about the events that were about to take place. There was a good atmosphere in the room when we arrived and this continued on throughout the day. Not everyone was comfortable with me being there but there was enough going on to keep everyone entertained so I could go on with my work and capture emotion of the day perfectly. Overall I was very happy with the outcome of the days photography and there are definitely some images that will make it to my portfolio. I can’t ask more than that…

Cyprus Weddings – Nikki & Stephen
This was one of my first Cyprus Weddings of 2009 and Nikki & Stephen made it easy for me. I find it is always easier to gain stunning wedding photographs when there is some sort of connection. I found Nikki & Stephen to be friendly and good fun to be around. Their ceremony was lovely and was clear to everyone they were completely wrapped up in each other. Which is great to see! The Nikki, Stephen and their guests were all at ease with me floating around in the background. This makes photographing a wedding very easy. I think the only thing that worked against me on this day was the cloud, but this can make for a different look to the pictures as the light is flat and diffused. When it came to the personal shots, Nikki & Stephen were fantastic! They were game for anything and comfortable in front of the camera. I think you can see for yourself we did pretty well with the Cyprus wedding photography.

Cyprus Weddings – Lynsey & Wayne
Lynsey & Wayne were lovely handsome couple and a delight to work with. As a photographer, you can only wish for people as open to your ideas as they were. I nervously asked them if they wanted to do the sexy photoshoot fully expecting them to them to be horrified. However, they were excited to try something different and we managed to photograph a very successful sunset shoot. An absolute pleasure!

Cyprus Weddings – Rebecca & Michael
This was the second time I visited the Grecian Sands hotel. I was only there for a short time in my first go but for Rebecca & Michael’s wedding, I had a good go at it. I must say I was very impressed with the hotel itself. It is a very classy! The rooms were an ok size but were bright and airy. Lovely bright white walls and white furniture. It makes for a lovely setting for stylish looking photography. Rebecca & Michael were a young couple ad for me, they were a pleasure to be around. I loved the excitement surrounding them. They were just so happy to be there in the sun and getting married in such a lovely setting. The Grecian Sands Hotel has a great champagne reception room which has a stunning contemporary design. The photos I took in this room were great! It was a joy to work here.

Cyprus Weddings – Emma & Jason
Emma and Jason’s wedding was one of my first in Cyprus and I couldn’t have hoped for a nicer couple. They were married at the Nissi Beach Hotel in Ayia Napa and the weather was sunny as usual. The atmosphere on the day was great. Everyone was happy and stress free, as everyone was there to have a good time and watch a loved one be married. Emma & Jason were an easy couple to photograph. Although I try not to get involved too much with the running of the day, when I did intervene at any point, they were more than happy to help in anyway possible. Their little girl was a little gem aswell. She was a bit overawed by the situation I think, but this helps, as I managed to get some wonderful, thoughtful photographs of her. Bless her!

Cyprus Weddings – Helena & Jason
We were in the Four Seasons Hotel, Limassol for this Cyprus Wedding. Photography does not come much easier in these classy surroundings. This is a stunning hotel with lots of little nooks and cranny’s for stylish photography opportunities. Helena & Jason were a very cool couple and very easy to get along with. Everyone seemed to have a great time. I certainly did!

Cyprus Weddings – Emily & Mark
Another lovely wedding at the Nissi Beach Hotel in Ayia Napa. This time we were at Emily and Mark’s Cyprus wedding. Photography is easy when you have such a good looking couple. They were very patient with me in the build up to the birth of my son and they kept their faith in me, right up until their wedding day. My son was born two days later, so it all worked out in the end. I will always be thankful for this.
What sticks out in my mind from this wedding was the sunset shoot we took them on. The clouds were a dense black everywhere and the sun was ducking below the cloud line on the horizon which gave the most magnificent light. Golden sunshine and a blackish background….very dramatic! I know it’s a bit anorak like, but this really floats my boat. I remember being very excited about it and I think the photos prove I was right to be excited as it was absolutely stunning!
For me, it makes a change to have a bit of cloud. Simple things please simple minds.

Cyprus Weddings – Anne-Marie & Ronan
Anne-Marie & Ronan were a stunning Irish couple who were married at the Nissi Beach Hotel in Ayia Napa. This hotel is the perfect location for Cyprus wedding photography. Fantastic gardens and a gorgeous views over Nissi Bay. You can’t get much better for Cyprus Weddings. I did not attend this wedding for very long but from what I could see, Anne-Marie & Ronan were very much in love and were going to make the most of their special day. This was the first time I have been to a wedding where the groom was barefoot. I thought this was fantastic! I am not saying it is a bad thing, but sometimes I think people take things a bit too seriously, but Ronan definitely did not and I thought it was brilliant. This was a religious ceremony at the Nissi Beach wedding gazebo with a vicar who does not like photographers. He can make things very difficult for me to get the photos I need for the people who have paid for me to be there. During this service, he even put his hand over my lens. This is a no, no! Suffice it to say, he stops me from obtaining the photographs I am paid to get and therefore lessening my service to my customer. I do not like this. I will not rant anymore although I could.
Aside from this, as you can see from the photos, everyone had a great time and we got some lovely photographs.

DC Photographic presents a new range of Storybook
We are proud to announce a new, affordable range of storybooks to supplement the other two lines already on offer. This type of book is a good alternative to the standard wedding album but without breaking the bank. DC Photographic has tried the low cost option before and was let down badly by one of the big names in photography. We will not mention names at this point as we do NOT want a multi-national company breathing down our necks. Suffice it to say, as they were a big company, the people working for them did not really care about the job and therefore the quality suffered. However, this time, I am using a smaller company with big ambitions, so the quality will much higher up on their priority list. Let’s just say I am excited about what the future holds with this company.
If you would like to see the new range please click here.
Cyprus Weddings – Lynn & Mark
Lynn & Mark were a lovey, down to earth couple who put on a lovely day for everyone and above all, had a lot of fun with their Cyprus wedding. Their wedding was based at the Elysium Hotel in Paphos. As I have previously mentioned, I love this hotel for the quality of wedding photography I can gain here. This is because of the sheer quality of the surroundings.
We started the day in Lynn’s room as she got ready. The room was superb as usual…but what I really liked was there were people everywhere, buzzing around doing their thing. To busy to notice I was there for the most part. Apart from a young boy, who is now my friend. He now knows the inner workings of my camera and is well on his way to be becoming a photographer himself. Bless his heart!!
The ceremony took place in the the Elysium’s Amphitheater and of course the sunshine was glorious and incredibly hot…but we are not surprised are we. It was a very relaxed affair and everyone had a lovely time. I definitely think this is reflected in the photographs. I think what warmed me to Lynn & Mark was their willingness to let go and just have fun. With the sunset photography, they were completely relaxed and wanted work with me to get the perfect Cyprus wedding photography for their album. I think it is important for the customer to feel at ease with me when I photographing the romantic pictures as these are the photos you will be hanging on your wall for the rest of your life. I think there is a little tip here that helps you feel relaxed and Lynn & Mark demonstrated perfectly. Do not concentrate on me, concentrate on the person you love and the feeling will show through on the photographs. It’s easy!

Cyprus Weddings – Alexia & Spiros
For me, this wedding was an amazing experience. This was my first doing photography at a traditional Cypriot Greek Orthodox wedding. I was with them from the early afternoon until 3 or 4 in the morning. It was a marathon to say the least…but I enjoyed every minute. It was an honour to be invited to share such a special day. Alexia and Spiros were a great couple. Obviously in love and well suited to each other….
The day started with Spiros. We were in a relatives home and it was packed. There were Greek musicians there when we arrived and they were busy filling the air with the sound of traditional wedding music. Shortly after our arrival Spiros came out and they began the custom of the bestman helping his groom prepare himself for the wedding. First he shaves him… I was pleased to see the mood wasn’t as serious as I thought it would be, as after the shaving was complete, his bestman dished out a big slap across his cheek…and the room was in stitches. The other bestman didn’t seem to know in which order a man should be dressed and somehow Spiros ended up with a tie on before he had a shirt on…again, the room was in stitches. They then went on to complete various other ceremonious customs until such a point where I had to rush off, over the road, to photograph Alexia making her entrance to her adoring public. Everyone watched her make her way down the stairs in a way that made her seem like royalty. It was great! Alexia sat on a chair in the middle of the room and all the guests circled around her. A lovely moment! Similar traditional religious customs took place and we were then ready to go to the church.
At the church, Spiros was waiting at the alter for his bride to be. As Alexia made her way down the isle, the procession was held up by by the priest. He had in his book that the wedding was meant to be 1/2 hour later and not the time which everyone else knew it to be. So everyone was made to wait 1/2 hour. Alexia waited half way up the isle for this whole time. I just could not believe my eyes… Poor Alexia!!
Once the wedding was underway, it really was a gorgeous ceremony. I did not really know what was being said as I do not speak Greek but it is fairly easy to see what needs photographing. When something happens…shoot it!
After the ceremony, all the guests made their way to the Four Seasons Hotel in Limassol where they had an amazing party! There was a lot of fun and laughs to say the least. One of the most interesting parts of the night for me was the customary Greek money dance. Alexia & Spiros danced together for half an hour or so and the guests came and pinned money to them. We are not talking about single notes, we are talking about note after note stuck together so it looked like a streamer…and then it was pined on. Once everyone had finished, they could barely moved it seemed. Very interesting!
Everyone then got together and began the traditional Cypriot dancing. At some points, I have to say, resembled mayhem. There were chairs being thrown across the dance floor and the dancers were constantly showered with petals…..but this was all part of it and it was great to watch. I loved it!
By the end, I could barely stand up I was so tired. A very long day but a fantastic experience…

Cyprus Weddings – Chantelle & Martin
For Chantelle & Martin’s wedding we were at the Nissi Beach Hotel and it was of course a lovely sunny day. I wasn’t with them long enough to be able to get to know them too much. We crammed in a lot in the time we were there, so it was great fun. A real whirlwind for me and then I was gone. I am sure they had an absolute ball though…

Cyprus Weddings – Eleana & Alex
Eleana & Alex’s Cyprus Wedding was at the Alion Beach Hotel in Ayia Napa. This is a very classy 5 star hotel which I believe caters for their wedding couples perfectly. What I liked about the way the Alion does their weddings is, as much as humanly possible, they keep everything separate from the other holidaymakers and they only do one per day. This give a real sense of privacy without cutting yourself off entirely. The wedding gazebo is almost hidden away behind a huge hedge but it still has the views to die for. The beach, the sea….stunning! They had the wedding champagne reception pitched just right also. The Alion sectioned off a whole balcony area over looking the bay, so the party remained intimate. It was lovely!
Eleana & Alex were a smashing couple. What I really liked about them was their obvious love and devotion to each other. Believe it or not, you don’t always see it. Alex really seemed to be into making Eleana’s day perfect. Right down to the smallest detail. I thought this was very sweet and thoughtful… A ladies ideal man so I hear. : )
In all seriousness, they were a pleasure to work with and they were at ease with being in front of the camera. They had an idea of what they wanted from their wedding photography and they got it. It was that easy!

Cyprus Weddings – Gemma & Daniel
Another gorgeous Cyprus summer wedding! Gemma & Daniel’s wedding took place at the Elysium Hotel, Paphos. One of finer hotels on the island of Cyprus. For a professional wedding photographer, you will be hard pressed to find a lovelier venue to cover a wedding. The attention to detail in this hotel is outstanding. There are so many places around the grounds and within the hotel itself which cry out to be used for photography. I would love to shoot here more often, but I believe the hotel attempt to restrict third party photographers like myself from shooting there. There is normally a way around these situations, as I have photographed there a few times and I have loved it everytime. When you enter the hotel, first you are struck by it’s grandeur, then the classic styling, which set the tone for a perfect Cyprus Wedding. Gemma & Daniels wedding was not exception. From the start of the day with Gemma’s preparations through to finishing the day on the Ocean Flyer Yacht. It truly was a fantastic day. I must say the it was a joy a photograph the guest also as they made my job so much easier by, basically, ignoring me and getting on with enjoying themselves. This is just how I like it!! If people know I am looking at them, they act differently and it becomes difficult to work. When they are relaxed and caught up in the moment, this is where I thrive…

Cyprus Weddings – Joanne & Carl
What a fantastic day and what a great couple!! We had a lovely time at this wedding. The Athena Beach Hotel in Paphos was it’s normal fantastic… There is something about his hotel that is just right for my style of photography. I like it a lot!
The Wedding Gazebo faces out on to a lovely beach and a sparkling sea. They have got the gazebo situated so it is out the way of the main part of the hotel so there is a certain degree of privacy. However you do get the odd passer by stopping for a nose, but we just ignore them. They are kept at arms length anyway. : ) Once the ceremony was complete we did the normal groups shots, followed by some romantic photography with just the two of them. We didn’t spend too long doing this because it was so HOT! So we decided to head up to the wedding champagne reception area. For me, this is the part of the day I am in my element. The wedding champagne reception area is laid out in such a way where I am able to hide a little easier and therefore capture the guests unaware. My main focus normally would be photographing people deep in conversation…laughing, or just a look of concentration. Something along these lines. I love this hotel for this!
One thing I really enjoyed about this day was the guests. They were so friendly and easy going. Just my kind of people! Also, there wasn’t any fear of being photographed. Everyone was happy for me to be pointing my camera at them. This makes my job so much easier and in the end it makes for a much nicer photo album if people are ok with me being there.
The sunset photography from this day was lovely. Paphos is one of the best places in Cyprus for sunsets! Depending on the time of year, the sunsets over the sea. (not on this day) This makes for some extremely romantic scenery and stunning photography. This is why people come to Cyprus to get married. Take a look at the photos below for the proof…

Cyprus Weddings – Gemma & Paul
This was a great day with a lovely couple getting married, great weather and brilliant guests. There was a fantastic also, which I think comes across in the photographs I supplied them. This was the first wedding I practiced a new technique for sunset photography. The new technique allows me to carry on shooting after the sun has gone down. So this day was a learning curve for me also, but despite not having the technique mastered, the photographs still worked really well and we were all happy. The mark of a great photographer…. Ha ha!

Cyprus Weddings – Irene & Anton
What can I say about Irene & Anton? Let’s start by saying they were fantastic!! They were a Russian couple but only Irene spoke English, so I was a little apprehensive as I was thinking about how it was all going to work…but they couldn’t have been nicer. What I thought was lovely about them was you really got a sense of the happiness they both had for each other and their young daughter. Also you could feel their excitement of being married in such a lovely location. It was nice to be part of that…definitely.
Their wedding ceremony was at the small church at the Adams Beach Hotel in Ayia Napa, Cyprus. They were both Russian Orthodox but the ceremony was Greek Orthodox. Basically the same thing….but the actual service was in Greek but it was also translated into Russian as they went along. Suffice it to say, I hadn’t got a clue what was going on!! I just pointed my camera when something happened and we won through in the end. After the service, I took them to a place just outside of Ayia Napa…a lovley little beach called Ayia Thekla.
This was a couple that were completely comfortable in front of he camera. Irene told me she was once a model…and this shone through once we started with the posed photography. It was a case of giving her a couple of instructions and off she went. I have never had it so easy! We have kept in regular contact since their wedding and I cannot speak highly enough about them. Simply a lovely couple!

Cyprus Weddings – Katy & John
Another day, another wedding at Nissi Beach Hotel. : ) I am not sure why, but Nissi Beach Hotel seems to be where I prominently shoot most of my weddings. Which is lucky because it happens to one of my favourite hotels on the island. It is very easy to take a nice shot at his hotel as it is in an absolutely stunning location with outstandingly beautiful gardens. The wedding gazebo looks out over Nissi Bay…which I might add is a breathtaking setting. The water is so blue, it doesn’t look real… What better way to get married. With Chris the MC lightening the mood, I don’t know of anyone who has had a bad time here. I certainly have never come away from here with a bad set of photographs. Well…I haven’t ever had that problem anyway…but you know what I mean.
Katy & John were a lovely young couple, cementing what was already a gorgeous young family. It was a great day and I got some great photographs…

Lensbaby for Cyprus Wedding Photography?
I recently went out and bought myself a new piece of kit which I fully intend on using for my weddings in the new 2010 wedding season. This is not to say this is how I will be photographing exclusively….far from it. It will merely serve to supplement my repertoire of photographic skills.
A Lensbaby is a flexible lens mounting system which allows you to get some very usual looking effects on your photograph organically and bypass the need for using an inferior digital process. In doing this it makes the image unique and nearly impossible to replicate. I believe this system will work wonderfully with wedding photography…especially with the Cyprus sun and the gorgeous scenery. It is for me, just another way of broadening my horizons as a photographer and at the same time providing my customers with some interesting, unusual and most importantly, beautiful photography to take home and put in their wedding albums.

Cyprus Weddings – Hayley & James
This was my first time at the Adams Beach Hotel in Ayia Napa and the day was threatening rain, but we had a good time regardless! Hayley & James were great and it was obvious they were madly in love with each other.
The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and the day ran smoothly. I have to say however, the best man’s speech was a little bluer than I am used to….but it was hilarious. If everyone else is laughing, then it’s ok right? Ha ha!
Despite the rain and the cloud, we still managed to get some great photographs to help Hayley & James remember their Cyprus Wedding forever.

Sexy Sunset Photography
I have been experimenting with a some new, “sexy” photography. I completely understand this isn’t to everyone’s taste…but I also understand that some people absolutely love them. So if this is something you would like to do with your wedding day photoshoot, let me know and we can make the necessary arrangements for this.
It is just a bit of a laugh and it doesn’t do any harm. They are only poses…please do not worry…I won’t be getting people to act anything out. Who do you think I am?!

Cyprus Weddings – Howard & Lisa
This was my first wedding of 2009 and I was of course feeling a little apprehensive as I hadn’t shot a wedding in 5 months, but I of course slipped in to it like putting on an old shoe. The wedding was at the Napa Mermaid Hotel which I had never been to before. It was a lovely venue and I have to say I didn’t know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. The sun was scorching hot that day which seemed a little uncharacteristic seeing as it had been very stormy up until that day for about 3 or 4 months before and it’s pretty much been cloudy ever since aswell. Lisa & Howard were a great couple and were very easy to work with. There was a lot of emotions in the air during the ceremony which I always enjoy because I am a sentimental fool and it makes for some cracking photos!
